Madras Medical College,
Chennai MBBS Admission 2013-2014 Course
Madras Medical College, located in Chennai in the state of Tamil
Nadu, is considered to be one of the oldest medical colleges to
have started its operations in India along with the Medical
College Kolkata. The MMC has been providing quality education in
the field of medicinal science since it inception on February
2nd 1835. The Madras Medical College is currently affiliated to
the Dr MGR Medical University by the University Act of 1987. As
the metropolis of Madras has been renamed as Chennai in 1996,
the college also was rechristened as the Chennai Medical
College, but reverted back to its old name as it was known world
over by the name of Madras Medical College. The college is
funded and run by the State Government of Tamil Nadu.
Eligibility Criteria:
Any candidate seeking admission to the MBBS course offered by
Madras Medical College in Chennai must be an Indian citizen and
should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of
admission. The candidate in order to be eligible should have
passed the 10+2 examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu state
Government and should possess the Higher Secondary School
certificate or its equivalent examination from any recognized
State or higher secondary Board. It is important for the
candidate to have passed in subjects like Physics, Chemistry,
Biology as well as English in the Higher Secondary examination
in order to seek admission to the MBBS course.
Admission procedure:
All the eligible candidates who want to take up the MBBS course
offered by the Madras Medical College will have to take part in
the common entrance test conducted by the State Government of
Tamil Nadu. The admission to the MBBS course will be based on
the merit marks scored by the candidate in the entrance test.
