Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical college, Mumbai MBBS Admission

This college is named after the eminent Maharashtraian freedom fighter Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak. It was started as a general hospital in the year 1947 with only 10 beds. Now it has grown to a multi- specialty hospital with more than 1200 beds and offers teaching in the medical sciences through the Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College stared in 1964, in the same campus. It has under graduate as well as post graduate courses in medicine. It is commonly knows as the “Sion Hospital”, as it is located in Sion a suburb of Mumbai. The first trauma care center in India was started by this hospital. This medical college has affiliation with medical council of India, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and the University Of Mumbai. The college is managed by the Brihan Mumbai Mahanagar Palika and offers undergraduate and post graduate courses in medical sciences.

Eligibility criteria
The candidate interested to get admission to the MBBS course of this college is required to appear for Maharashtra Common entrance test conducted by the Government. To be eligible for writing this exam the candidate should be an Indian national and must be over 17 years of age at the time of seeking admission. The candidate should have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate or any equivalent examination recognized by the state of Maharashtra with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology) as well as English as the main subjects. The Open category students will have to score about 50% aggregate marks in the HSC examination and the backward class candidates will be required to score a minimum of 40% marks in the qualifying examination.

Admission Procedure:
The candidate who is eligible to take the MBBS course must have passed the common entrance examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Government. The selection to the MBBS seats will be based on the merit marks obtained in the entrance test.
