JIPMER Puducherry MBBS Admission
Courses 2013-2014
One of the oldest premier medical schools to be established in
India by the then French Government that ruled the union
territory of Pondicherry is the “Ecole de Medicine de
Pondicherry” in the year 1823. The Government of India took over
the reins of the college in 1956 and was renamed as the
Jawaharlal Institute of Post graduate Medical Education and
Research or more popularly known as JIPMER on 13th July 1964.
The JIPMER university is an autonomous body that is the under
the control of the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the
Government of India. The JIPMER campus is locate on a sprawling
hillock area of over 195 acres in the western side of the
Pondicherry highway and has various modern facilities like
shopping center, well laid roads, greenery all around, bank,
post office and residential complex.
Eligibility Criteria:
The candidate interested to take up the MBBS course offered by
the JIPMER college needs to be an Indian citizen who is not less
than 17 years. He or she should have completed their higher
secondary examination with a minimum of 50% marks in their final
examination in the 12 standard or any other equivalent
examination that is recognized by the college. The following
subjects like Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English must have
been taken by the students in their final year of school
education in order to be eligible for seeking admission to the
MBBS course.
Admission Procedure:
All the eligible candidates will be required to take up the
common entrance test conducted by the college on a specified
date. Admission to the MBBS course will be based on the marks
that the student gets in the entrance test as well as the marks
he or she scores in the interview conducted by the college. For
