The Banaras Hindu University’s Institute of Medical Sciences is
one of the premier co-educational and residential medical
institutions in the city of Varanasi. The Institute of Medical
Sciences was established in the year 1960 and is taken care by
the Government of India. The Institute of Medical Sciences in
Varanasi was established in order to provide quality education
to deserving candidates in the field of education and research
in the field of medical science. The IMS campus is located in
the front portion of the Banaras Hindu University and is now
catering to over 33 departments in Modern Medicine.
Eligibility Criteria:
Any candidate interested to seek admission to the MBBS course
offered by IMS, Varanasi needs to be a citizen of Indian origin
and has to have completed at least 17 years of age during the
time of admission to this professional course. A student will be
eligible to seek admission to the MBBS course if he or she has
passed the 10+2 or its equivalent examination with emphasis on
subjects like Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology with a
minimum of 50% marks in the general category. SC/ST students
need to have a total of 45% marks to be eligible for the MBBs
course.
Admission Procedure:
A candidate who is eligible to seek admission to the MBBS course
of IMS will have to take up the All India Competitive written
examination conducted by the Banaras Hindu University on a
prescribed date. Also, the candidate will have to take up the
PMT screening examination conducted by the Institute of Medical
Sciences on a specific date. The admission will be given to
those candidates who secure the merit rank for the entrance test
as well as the PMT main examination. For further details on the
