Bangalore Medical College MBBS Admission Courses 2013-2014

The Bangalore Medical College or BMC which is now known as the Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute has been established in the year 1955 and is being run by the Government of Karnataka. The college is the one and only medical college that is run by the State Government and is an autonomous institution that is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences at JayaNagar in Bangalore. The up gradation of the college to the level of the AIIMS is in progress and the college received the autonomous status in the year 2006. The campus is located on the IMA circle on K.R. Road and is consistently ranked among the top 15 medical institutions in India.

Eligibility Criteria:
A candidate seeking admission to the four and a half year MBBS course of the Bangalore Medical College is required to be an Indian National in the first place and also needs to be over 17 years of age during the time of admission. The candidate will have to have completed the secondary school qualifying examination or the pre University examination conducted by the Karnataka State Government or any other 10+2 pattern education that is conducted by various other State Governments that is recognized by the college. The candidates need to have taken Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as the main subjects in the qualifying examination and the candidate needs to score at least 50% marks in the general category in order to be eligible for seeking admission to the MBBS course.

Admission Procedure:
The eligible candidates will be required to take the Karnataka State Common entrance test conducted by the State Government on a specified date in order to be eligible for admission to the MBBS course and also to score merit marks in the test to gain admission. The candidates from other States will be required to score merit marks in the All Indian Pre Medical test conducted at the national level to secure admission to the MBBS course.
