AIIMS, Delhi MBBS Admission Courses 2013-2014 

The Bohre committee report in 1946 suggested the need for a National Medical Center at Delhi. After the announcement of independence the Union Ministry of Health made it into a reality with the help of funds from the Government of New Zealand. In 1956 All India Institute of Medical Science was declared as an autonomous institution by act of Indian parliament. The institute has the powers to issue its own academic distinctions and degrees. The institute has provisions for teaching, patient- care and research. The institute conducts coaching in medical as well as para-medical courses at the under graduate and post graduate levels. There are 43 disciplines in which teaching and research are conducted. The institute has twenty five clinical departments and four super specialty centers .the complete financing of this institution is done by the central government of India.

Eligibility criteria
Every year 77 candidates are admitted for the MBBS course in AIIMS. There are five reserved seats for Foreign Nationals. Admission is based on the result of the competitive exam conducted by the institute. Any Indian citizen with 17 years of age on 31st of December of the year of admission can apply for the course provided, he/ she has cleared the 12th class under 10+ 2 pattern with minimum 60% marks. The student must have studied English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the Senior Secondary Level. The students who passed the graduate degree, with minimum 55% mark can also apply for the course.

Admission procedure
A candidate applying for the entrance examination should submit the application in the prescribed form, to the institution. Foreign students do not need to write the exam. The applications will be called from the month of January and the last date for submission will be by 3rd week of February. Entrance exam is conducted on 1st of June every year. There are nine examination centers including Delhi. If the student passes the entrance exam, a medical examination is done before giving admission.
