Entrance Exams in India
Entrance
examination is conducted in most of the Educational Institutions
to admit eligible candidates in those institutions. Even the
Primary grades conduct Entrance Exams but still the exams that
are conducted to enroll students in colleges are considered to
be the most important of all the Entrance Exams in India.
All India
Engineering Entrance Examinations (AIEEE) is conducted to enroll
students in the Engineering Institutions, which are affiliated
to All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). State
level Entrance examinations are conducted and 85% of the
students get admitted in engineering colleges through this.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) conducts IIT-JEE to test
the skills of students. Medical Council of India conducts All
India Pre-Medical Test and this exam picks up eligible
candidates to persue their career in Medicine. Also AIIMS, AFMC
and many private medical colleges in India conduct separate
entrance exams.
National
Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and NAD art the Fashion
and Technology Institutes that admits students based on their
marks in the Entrance examination conducted by these Institutes.
Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune is yet
another field that admits candidates based on the entrance
examination marks. The National Level Business schools also pick
up students into their Management Institutes based on Common
Admission Test (CAT) results. Law and Hotel Management also
conducts, separate Entrance Exams to admit students.
Lakhs of
students take up these exams but only few gets a seat in the
respective colleges. So these are highly competitive and test
the true skills of the students. However Indian college
admission Procedures are quite complicated due to the
reservation of seats based on the castes.
