This university was formed out of the dream of the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh N.T. Rama Rao to educate women. This University for Women was formed in 1983 with ten faculties, twenty staff members and 300 students. Today the number of the students has reached nearly 3000 and 250 staff members. The university offers courses in post- graduate as well as undergraduate level. Research facilities are also present here. The university is located in Tirupati and spreads over an area of 138 acres. NAAC has accredited this university with four stars. The mission of this university is “Emancipation of Women through Acquisition of Knowledge”. The distant education centre was established in the year 2000 in order to provide education to women who are unable to attend the regular courses.

Eligibility criteria
All the courses of this university are open only to women candidates. Admission for distant education MBA course will be based on the ranks obtained in the state wide Common Entrance Test conducted as per the directions of the Andhra Pradesh government. The candidate seeking admission for MBA program should have passed the under- graduate course from a recognized university with the minimum mark prescribed by the university. Providing any false information or not providing relevant facts result in cancellation of admission.

Admission procedure
Any student seeking admission for the MBA program has to give application to the department of management studies in the university along with the documents showing the eligibility as well as the rank obtained in the common admission test conducted by the state. Admission is purely based on the merit.
