The Tamil Nadu Open University was started with the idea to
provide quality education to the people who have been denied or
have been deprived of higher education, especially people who
are economically weak in the society or students who are
physically challenged or to those who have discontinued their
higher studies due to various reasons. The University was
established by the Act No 27 of year 2002 passed by the
Legislative Assembly of the Tamil Nadu Government. The
University is recognized by DEC, the Distance Education Council,
New Delhi.
Eligibility criteria:
Any candidate who has a valid Bachelor’s degree in Tamil or
English or Physics or Chemistry or botany or Zoology or
Mathematics can apply for the Bachelor of education course.
Also, a candidate needs to have a two year teaching experience
in Nursery/ Primary/ Secondary/ Higher Secondary Schools that
are recognized by either the Government of Tamil Nadu or
Government of India. The candidates who belong to SC/ ST, BC, OC,
MBC or DNC and visually and physically handicapped candidates
will be given more weightage than students who belong to other
category.
Admission Procedure:
The admission to Tamil Nadu Open University’s Bachelor of
Education course will be based on the marks obtained by the
candidates in the Entrance examination conducted by the Open
University. The entrance examination will be conducted on all
the study centers of the University across Tamil Nadu. The
candidates will be selected for admission to the B Ed course
based on the merit list in the entrance examination and also the
marks obtained in the qualifying degree course. The candidate
who receives the call letter from the University will have to
meet the Administrative officer with all the original
testimonials on the specified date. For further details of the B
