The Madurai Kamaraj University has been imparting quality education to the entire deserving candidates in the State of Tamil Nadu since 1966. As many as 109 colleges are affiliated with this University. The Directorate of Distance Education of MKU has a total of over 1.3 lakh students pursuing various courses through correspondence. The campus is located on a lush green campus on the Madurai – Theni road which is at a distance of about 13 kilometers from the heart of Madurai City. The University Grants Commission has recognized MKU as a University with the “Potential for Excellence”. The Directorate of Distance education has been recognized by the Distance Educational Council, New Delhi.

Eligibility Criteria:
An applicant should possess a valid Bachelor’s degree certificate under the 10+2+3 or 11+1+3 pattern in the following subjects to be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of education course offered by correspondence by MKU. The subjects are: Tamil, English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Applied Sciences, Microbiology, Computer Science, Commerce, History, Geography, Political Science etc. In service teachers with a minimum of two years teaching experience in primary, secondary, higher secondary, CBSE or matriculation schools recognized by the State Government or by the Central Government will only be eligible to seek admission to B Ed program through correspondence.

Admission Procedure:
Any eligible candidate will be selected to the Bachelor of Education program through correspondence based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination as well as the teaching proficiency of the candidate. There will be no separate entrance test conducted by the University. All selected candidates will need to appear in person on the date mentioned in the call letter with all the original testimonials for a personal interview.
