The Directorate of Distance Education of the University of Kashmir was established in the year 1976 and has since been imparting quality education to various students in various faculties through Open and distance learning methods. The Kashmir University is recognized by the University Grants Commission. The distance education center is housed in a multi storied building inside the University. The Directorate of Distance Education has provided high class facilities to the students like well furnished classrooms, well equipped library, conference hall, computer lab with all modern facilities, excellent rapport between students and teachers and a high quality audio visual lab. There are plenty of courses that are offered by the University of Kashmir through its distance education program. The University of Kashmir provides excellent facilities for candidates seeking admission to the distance education Bachelor of Education program.

Eligibility criteria:
A candidate who has secured an aggregate of 45% marks in either the bachelor’s degree course in Arts, Science, commerce or in Bachelor of engineering or B Tech from the University of Kashmir or any other University that is recognized is eligible to take up the Bachelor of Education distance learning course from the University. The minimum aggregate marks are fixed at 40% for students from Leh and Kargil areas in Kashmir. Also, candidates’ need to have at least two years working experience as teacher in Government or government aided or private schools recognized by the government in order to seek Admission to the B Ed course.

Admission Procedure:
The selection of the candidate to the B Ed course will be purely on the basis of merit scored by the eligible candidates in the entrance examination conducted by the University of Kashmir. All the selected candidates will have to bring in their original testimonials while attending the counseling conducted by the University.
