Distance Education BEd Admission 2013-2014
One of the premiers most Universities in the state of Tamil Nadu,
Bharathiar University located in Coimbatore, the Manchester city
of South India, has been imparting quality education and various
research oriented programs since its inception in 1982 by virtue
of the Bharathiar University Act of 1981. The University got its
recognition from the University Grants Commission in May 1985
that funds the University. The motto of the University is
“Educate to Elevate” and is named after the great Tamil and
national poet Shri Subramania Bharathi. The University strives
in making this educational institution as a good temple of
learning and the students are inculcated with good learning
habits as well as trained to improve their knowledge skills and
is provided with ample opportunities to hone their creative
ideas. The School of Distance Education (SDE) of Bharathiar
University offers B Ed course through distance education mode
that is approved by Distance Education Council, New Delhi and
the National Council for Teaching Education (NCTE).
Eligibility criteria:
All teachers with minimum of two years teaching experience are
eligible to take up the Bachelor of Education distance education
course of Bharathiar University. Also, the candidate needs to
hold a Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree in subjects like
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, History, Geography, Botany,
Zoology, Computer Science, Commerce, Tamil or English from a
reputed or recognized University.
Admission Procedure:
All the candidates seeking admission to the Bachelor of
Education Distance Education program will have to take an
entrance test conducted by the University at its various study
centers throughout the State. The candidates who have secured
good marks in the entrance test will only be considered for
admission to the B Ed course. The allotment of seats to the
course will be purely on merit basis. For further details on the
