Mumbai University B.Ed/M.Ed Admission 2013-2014

A University that was founded in the year 1857 by Dr. Wilson during the British rule in India, the University of Mumbai has now turned out to be one of the landmark institutions of the country. It is in fact one among the first three universities that was started in India. The University of Mumbai was earlier named as the University of Bombay and it got its name changed in the year 1996 as the Maharashtra Government decided to change the name of Bombay city to Mumbai city. Many colleges in and around Mumbai are affiliated to the Mumbai University. The University has recently been granted the Five Star Status by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). There are a wide variety of coursed offered in the University that also includes courses like Bachelor of Education (B Ed) and M Ed.

Eligibility Criteria:
The B Ed course is a one year education program. In order to be eligible for this course in Mumbai University, the candidate will be required to hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Arts, Science, Home Science or Computer Applications from any recognized University across the country. An aggregate of 50% marks will be required for eligibility to this course. M. Ed is a two year course wherein a candidate has to get a minimum of 50% marks in the B Ed examination to be eligible to apply for M Ed in Mumbai University.

Admission Procedure:
The admission to the B Ed course in Mumbai University is done on the basis of a written examination. A candidate who passes the written examination will be called for a final interview conducted by the central B Ed admission cell wherein a candidate will be selected to do the course if he meets all the criteria that the University wants. A candidate seeking admission to the Master of Education two year course will have to take a written test conducted by the University and the selection will be based on the result of the test.
