Nagaland University Courses
Nagaland University Parliament Act 1989, on 6 September 1994,
recognized Nagland University. It is solitary Central University
in State, which has three campuses, Lumami Headquarters,
Medziphema, and Kohima. Presently, this University is working
from Kohima Campus like Interim Headquarters. The University is
situated in tribal dominated State Nagaland, which has borders
with Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, and Myanmar (Burma).
Every Campus has its personal academic and administrative unit
for managing the everyday educational affairs.
Nagaland University is deputing faculty members and students for
participating in the National as well as International
Conferences in India as well as abroad. Socially applicable
research has been undertaken with quality publication through
faculty members, which are indicators of superiority of
University, and is evaluated by the NAAC for its Quality
Education. Presently, the University is having around 50
Projects under progress. The University is publishing
Newsletter, Research Journal, and Students’ Magazine.
Nagaland University is amongst the affiliating Universities
existing. There are around 48 colleges affiliated with this
University from different parts of State. Around 20,000 Students
are doing Under-graduate courses and around 1500 students in
different PG courses in this University. The University is
successfully monitoring and coordinating quality of education of
all the colleges. The University is identified like an
affiliating University to Minority Educational Institution on
all-India basis.
The Nagaland University is endorsed one SAP (Special Assistance
Program) to Botany Department through UGC as well as 3 FIST
Programs through DST (Department of Science and Technology) of
Government of India. It is having established Botanical Garden
as well as Fishery Training facilities through Ministry of
Environment as well as Forestry and the DBT (Department of
Biotechnology), from Ministry of Science & Technology, for
Government of India and New Delhi respectively. Ministry of
Social Justice has approved two hostels for the boys and girls
of the SC/ST categories in Lumami Headquarters.
