Aligarh Muslim University AMU Courses

The founding of the MAO (Mohammedan Anglo Oriental) College in the year 1875 is marked as amongst the most important events of the educational as well as social history for modern India. Its founding is considered like the first important response of Indian Muslims for challenges of the post 1857 era. It was very important method in the process of communal change amongst the Muslims. Lord Lytton had laid foundation stone of Mohammedan Anglo Oriental College in 8 January 1877. Eight years later, as the renowned Orientalist Sir Hamilton Gibb had gone through history of the Muslim Transition from medieval to modern practice; he declared this College as “first modernist institution of Islam". It turned into AMU (Aligarh Muslim University) thereafter.

AMU occupies a dignified position amongst Indian Universities as well as its contribution in the nation building is no way lesser to best amongst the lot. AMU is possibly the only University of the country, having high schools in the domain.
