The University of Mumbai which is popularly referred to as the
Mumbai University is one of the oldest three Universities to
start its operation in the Indian soil. The University of
Bombay, as it was then called, was founded by Dr. Wilson during
the British Raj in India in the year 1857. As per the Government
gazette in the year 1996, the University of Bombay’s name was
changed to University of Mumbai. This University has two
campuses and the main campus is known as the fort campus in the
heart of Mumbai. Almost all the leading colleges in and around
Mumbai are affiliated to the Mumbai University. The University
has been given the Five Star rating by NAAC recently. The Mumbai
University is also a member of the Association of Indian
Universities. A lot of Undergraduate, Post graduate, Management
and research courses are available in this University.
Eligibility criteria:
Candidates should possess a B.Com/BMS degree from this
university or any other equivalent degree from other recognized
university. Students from other universities have to get a
provisional statement of eligibility and should submit it at the
time of admission. Students who are admitted on the basis of
provisional statement have to submit the original degree
certificate before the closing of the first term failing which
the admission will be cancelled. A candidate interested in
taking up B.Com course will be eligible if he or she has passed
the +2 examination conducted by Maharashtra State Government or
any equivalent examination with an aggregate of 50% marks with
Commerce or Economics subject as an elective subject.
Admission Procedure
Submit the duly completed application form with three recent
passport size photographs and original certificates and self
attested copies of the certificate in the department of
commerce. The information furnished in the application should be
correct. The admission fee has to be paid by demand draft/ pay
order only.
