Jadavpur University is one the pioneer University of the country today and has been molding great leaders and engineers who will not only shape the future of India but also will be a force to reckon with globally. The University has been in existence since 1906 in Kolkata and has been converted into Jadavpur University in the year 1955 after the Jadavpur University Act came into force in 1955. The University offers a wide variety of BA and MA courses on subjects like Economics, History, English, Sanskrit, Bengali, Philosophy, Physical education etc.

Eligibility Criteria:
For a Bachelors of Arts degree admission, a candidate who belongs to the general category should have got an aggregate of 60% marks in the Higher Secondary examination conducted by the various states across India. For a PD student, the aggregate marks should be about 50%. In case of an SC/ST candidate, the aggregate cut off marks is fixed at 45%. To obtain admission into the Master of Arts course of Jadavpur University, a candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with an aggregate of 55% marks. The Masters program will be a two year Post graduation course.

Admission Procedure:
Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination or its equivalent examination with an aggregate of 60% marks are eligible to seek admission in any of the Bachelor of Arts courses offered by the University. A candidate interested in M AN admission, will have to first be holding any Bachelors of Arts degree in the subject he or she wishes to pursue in the Masters program. The University will also be conducting an entrance exam for the M a course. A candidate who is successful in this exam will be called for a final interview. Upon passing this final interview, the candidate will be offered an admission by the University.
