An in-depth survey jointly carried out by IndiaToday-Neilsen
based on perceptual and factual scores ranks the Banaras Hindu
University as the number one varsity in the country. A center
for excellence in academics and research, the BHU has a deep
rooted connect with India’s history. The university was founded
by social reformer and freedom fighter Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya
in 1916 with an aim to producing intellect and bright minds that
would lead the country on the path to progress. In this
direction the university offers every possible guidance and
encouragement for an all-round development of the pupil.
The university has a rigorous entrance examination designed for
all of its courses and passing this exam is a must for securing
admission. The university offers the under-graduate Bachelor of
Science (B.Sc) and the post-graduate Master of Science (M.Sc)
courses in different subjects. A range of combinations of
subjects is available for the undergraduate students to choose
from. Similarly, candidates opting for the master’s program can
select a variety of subjects for their specialization. However,
for pursuing master’s degree in certain subjects such as streams
of Physics and Statistics inclusive of Mathematics, a candidate
should have offered Mathematics as one of the optional subjects
at the degree level. Here are some more details about the
eligibility and admission procedure.
Eligibility Criteria:
The B.Sc course requires the candidate to have passed the 10+2
level exam by a recognized board of education with a basic score
of 50% aggregate.
The condition for applying to the M.Sc program implies a basic
score of 50% in the final year of the graduate exam under the
