University of Mysore Courses

The University of Mysore is a prestigious University as it was founded during the rule of the great Maharaja of Mysore, Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV. The University of Mysore is one of the oldest Universities in India and it was established in the year 1916 on July 27. The Maharaja of Mysore is the first chancellor of this university. In the initial stage, the University of Mysore is a state University and later after gradually developments, the University became autonomous in the year 1956 on 3 March. The Mysore University is a public university and it also recognized by University Grants Commission. This University is the first educational University in Karnataka.

The University of Mysore holds about 122 affiliated colleges and more than 5 constituent colleges with strength of about 53,000 students. Additional to this , the University of Mysore offers 37 postgraduate courses on various departments including Arts, Science, Social Science and so on and also this University offers 8 specialized research programs and training institutes and 2 postgraduate centres in which there are about 55 regular academic courses are conducted to more than 3,500 students. Apart from above courses and programmes, the University of Mysore also offers many number of job oriented certificate programmes and diploma courses to educate their students in better way to get them job in time.

The external environment of the Mysore University is the main attraction as it has excellent greenery. The main campus of the University comprises academic buildings, administrative works, a swimming pool, an auditorium and so on. The library of the University holds more than 800,000 books, and about 100,000 journals and about 2,400 journal titles. Being a residential University, the University of Mysore has separate hostel for boys and girls. The University also well connected with international institutes to exchange the academic, technical and cultural matters which are considered as health relationship as it helps the students to mold their future.
