BHU Banaras Hindu University Courses

Banaras Hindu University, often referred as BHU, is one of the largest residential public Universities in Asia that is located in Varanasi in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya was instrumental in setting up this University in the year 1916 under the Legislation BHU Act of 1915 of the Parliament. The BHU is ranked as the Second Best University for research oriented courses in India, next to Delhi University. The BHU has two campuses with the main campus located in Varanasi on about 1350 acres of land that was donated by the hereditary Banaras ruler Kashi Naresh. The BHU boasts of about 16 faculties and over 140 departments and the University is now catering to the needs of over 22,000 students. The BHU is recognized by Association of Indian Universities, University Grants Commission and National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India.

Eligibility Criteria:
Any candidate interested in seeking admission to the various Undergraduate courses offered by the University in the field of Arts, Science and Commerce will be eligible if he or she passes the 10+2 or its equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks and should have studied the respective subjects in the qualifying examination. Candidates interested to take up Postgraduate degree course needs to have completed the Bachelor’s degree in the respective subjects with an aggregate of 50% marks from any recognized University.

Admission procedure:
The eligible candidates seeking admission to the various undergraduate/ postgraduate degree programs of BHU will be admitted depending on the marks scored in the Undergraduate Entrance test / Postgraduate entrance test conducted by the University in the month of May or June every year. The marks obtained by the eligible candidates in the All India Entrance test conducted by the University will be the basis upon which a candidate will be chosen for the B Ed or M Ed program.
