Assam University is one of the best Universities in India and it was established in the year 1994 under the Assam University Act, 1989. It is one of the best teaching and affiliated University and it is also considered as excellent institute of learning. Since establishment, the growth and development of the University is very prominent and gradual which makes the University as one of the preferred University among students.

The campus of the Assam University is the main attraction of the visitors and it is located in Dargakona, near Silchar. The environment and surrounding of the Assam University is a typical landscape with pleasant greenery, sprawling hillocks in the North East of Assam. The main campus of the University covers about 600 acres of land area surrounded by beautiful mountains, lakes and greenery, this pleasant surrounding makes the students more comfort and it is a prefect place for academic pursuit.

The aims of Assam University are to spread the advance knowledge among students all over the nation by offering educational and research facilities in all needed departments of academic courses; to take perfect measure for upgrading inter-disciplinary academic courses and research programmes in the University; to train and educate the students manpower to help in the development of Assam state; and also to educate the students to pay special interest to the improvement of the whole nation and also to develop attention in social services.

With 300 plus faculty in different departments, the university located in various places namely Bangladesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Maghalaya, and Nagaland. Being one of the Multi disciplinary Universities, the Assam University holds about 16 schools in which nearly 35 departments are functioned.

The five districts of Assam are comes under the Assam University jurisdiction holding more than 53 affiliated Colleges. The University, with excellent educational systems gradually attracts students from its nearby states. It is a full-fledged residential University with separate hostels for boys and girls.
