Anna University Courses

The Anna University in Madras now Chennai has been imparting quality education in the field of Engineering, Technology and Applied Sciences since it started as a unitary type of University in September 4th of 1978. Two well known technical institutions in Madras were merged to form the single Anna University. The main campus of the University is spread over 100 hectares of land with the Adayar River in the north and the Raj Bhavan at the south of the University campus. The second campus of the University is located at the Madras Institute of technology, Chrompet that is spread over an area of 20 hectares. The unitary University became an affiliated University in the month of December in 2001. Now, more than 430 self financing engineering colleges, six Government colleges and three Government aided colleges are being governed by the University. The Anna University is a member of the Association of Indian Universities and has received the five star rating from the University Grants Commission in the year 2002.

Eligibility Criteria:
Any candidate interested to take up the Bachelor of engineering and technology courses offered by Anna University needs to be an Indian citizen. The candidate should have scored merit marks in ht 12th Standard public examinations conducted by the Tamil Nadu State board of examinations with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics being the main subjects. Also, the candidate should have scored heavily in the engineering entrance test conducted by the Tamil Nadu Government. Any candidate seeking admission to the various Master of Engineering and Technology courses offered by the University will have to have passed with a minimum of 60% marks in the B.E or B. Tech degree of the respective discipline.

Admission Procedure:
Admission to the Masterís degree in engineering and technology will be based on the marks obtained in the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET). Admission to the Bachelorís degree in engineering and technology will be purely based on the rank obtained in the Tamil Nadu engineering Admissions (TNEA).
