Aligarh Muslim University is popularly known as AMU, this is a
residential academic university with excellent academic
buildings, food service centre, hostels and so on. Being one of
the famous Universities, the Aligarh Muslim University was
established in the year 1857. In the initial stage, the
University was established as Mohammedan Angelo-Oriental College
by Sir Syed Ahmed Khanand. Later, the college gained its status
as Central University under the Indian Parliament Act in the
year 1920. The total area of the Aligarh University is about 468
hectares and it is exactly located in Aligarh, India. It is one
of the prestigious Universities and it is one among the
educational institutions which was established during the
British Raj. The University not only plays a vital educational
growth of the country but also has played during the struggle of
independence of India and it also considered as the birth place
of Pakistan.
Aligarh Muslim University provides more than 250 academic
courses in the conventional and modern departments of education.
It accepts registrations in and around the world, especially in
some countries like Africa, South East Asia and West Asia. The
University also holds some seats in particular academic courses
especially for students from Commonwealth countries and SAARC .
This prestigious University holds 8th rank in the list of
India’s top 20 research universities.
Aligarh Muslim University has nearly 30,000 students, and more
than 2000 faculty members for about 80 departments. The Aligrah
University also has five high schools which include 1 for the
visually handicapped students and 2 high schools for senior
secondary schools for both girls and boys. The University also
famous for its strict discipline, excellence in education,
wonderful environment, friendly staffs and many more on the
list. The University also has excellent library with millions of
books, journals, publications and so on.
